Dianthus cruentes is an unusual dryland species, native to south western Europe. It grows into a small tight clump of grass like foliage with a very distinctive display of pinky purple clustered flowers held high on 20 to 35cm wiry stems in summer. Best in full sun in very well drained soils. Drought and frost hardy.
