Dianthus crinitus is a small spreading shrub with flower spikes of massed white or pale pink flowers on stalks to 30cm. Flower petals are fringed. Flowers from late spring to autumn. Attractive bluey grey foliage. Deadhead to encourage repeat flowering. Most soils in full sun. Part shade in hot districts. Summer water may be required in drier districts. Ideal for borders, rockeries, cottage gardens and containers. A rare species difficult to find in cultivation.
