Silene uniflora is a low, mat forming plant growing 20cm x 40-50cm wide. It has attractive tight grey green foliage and the most stunning white flowers whose petals are fused and inflated to form a bladder. This form has slightly smaller flowers that point upwards rather than being pendulous. It flowers for a long period from late Winter to late Autumn. Highly adaptable it grows in coastal and inland areas in well drained soils and prefers full sun but will grow in part shade. We grow it here in SA with some Summer water. Also tolerant of alkaline soils.
