Conothamnus aureus is a small multi branched shrub growing 30–50 cm x 50cm–1m. The leaves are greyish green and lance-shaped to egg-shaped. The flowers are golden yellow and arranged on the ends of branchlets in spherical heads about 10 mm in diameter. Flowering occurs between August and November. Prefers full sun in well drained soils and is drought hardy and frost tolerant once established.
