Clumping plant 50cm x 50cm wide with grassy strap like leaves and spikes of flowers to 1m above the foliage in winter and spring. The tuberous form of the flower bud is yellow, becoming orange then red at the opening. Remove spent flower spikes to encourage fresh flowers. Well drained soils in a sunny or partly shaded position. Suitable for pots. Summer water required in hot dry districts.
