White flowers appear in mid summer to mid autumn between January to April. Often cultivated in open areas, wider verges, in parks and reserves and as a shelter wind-break or for erosion control.  Suitable for coastal exposure, alkaline soils and honey production. Its durable timber is sought after for scantlings, structural timber, the construction of railway carriages, boat building and furniture manufacturing.
