A hardy form of these iconic Australian plants. Forming a large clump of deep green strap like leaves these plants will send up tall spikes of deep red flowers to 2m. Flowering occurs from late Spring into Summer and I love to use a selection of red and gold flowering ones as a table decoration for our Christmas lunch. Grow in a sunny position in well drained soils. Drought hardy once established but the trick is to apply a little extra water during their flowering period to keep the stems from drooping. They also look fantastic in pots on the patio
