In spring and summer they abound with spikes of pendulous flowers.  They grow in any fertile, well-drained soil and can be grown in full sun but semi-shade preferred. Although drought tolerant once established Summer water recommended in hot dry districts.

Aquilegia discolor is a species aquilegia reaching 10-30cm x 30cm with divided leaves and purple and white nodding flowers in spring and early summer. Winter dormant.
