Hakea leucoptera is a variable shrub to small tree 3-5m x 2-3m. It has silvery grey to grey-blue rigid needle like foliage with sharp points making it an ideal bird habitat. The showy creamy white flowers appear from late spring to summer. It occurs in the arid regions of Australia and is adaptable to most well drained soils in full sun or part shade. Drought hardy and moderately frost tolerant.
