Bossiaea aquifolium is a slender shrub or tree that typically grows to a height of up to 8 m. The leaves are arranged in opposite pairs and are holly-like, either with wavy edges and nine or more sharp points on the edges or more than fifteen teeth with only a single sharp point on the tip. The pea flowers are yellow to orange with a reddish-brown base and flowering occurs from July to November. Prefers a protected position in dappled shade in moist light to heavy soils. Drought resistant once established but can be frost tender. Summer water recommended in hot dry districts.
