Banksia spinulosa is dense, fine foliaged shrub growing to 1.5-3m x 1.5-3m. While the spikes are gold or less commonly yellowish, the emergent styles may be a wide range of colours – from black, purple, red, orange or yellow and occur in the Autumn and Winter months. Its native range is from Victoria to Queensland so is adaptable to a wide range of conditions including well drained clay soils and coastal exposure.
